the performance was webcast live, streaming audio and video. Feedback from the audience was 'heard' by me via an Internet Messenger client, the IM text was converted into sound in the gallery and then I would respond via microphone.

2 web-cams were set up in the gallery, one for broadband, one for dialup. The Microsoft Windows media server would scale on-the-fly to bandwidth needs also.
